Raffles American School is a learning community that empowers students to achieve their academic and life potential. We facilitate student success through collaboration with parents, and a balanced focus on intellectual, emotional, physical, and social progress. RAS serves students Pre-K through
12th grade and operates with a philosophy and profound belief that all students can learn at a high academic standard. RAS hires only the most well-qualified teachers available, primarily from the United States. The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:7, giving each student the personalized attention necessary to succeed. Our diverse student body, comprising 25 different nationalities and counting, creates a learning environment rich in diversity.
The American Curriculum is a rigorous, standards-based system that aims to educate the whole child for the successful realization of dreams and goals. RAS is accredited by WASC (Western Association of Schools and Colleges), one of the six accreditation authorities from the United States for the American curriculum. RAS offers a standards
based curriculum with a learning outcome approach, delivering content through a series of General Learning Outcomes, ensuring that students gain a mastery of these vital skills and abilities.
Students who successfully meet all requirements for graduation from RAS will earn an American High School Diploma, which is recognized by universities around the world as a valid qualification for entry. RAS also offers students college-level course work during their high school education in the form of Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Because of the strong emphasis on the delivery of content knowledge through a learning outcome approach, the students “learn how to learn”, and the transferability to all other schools is quite strong.
